The only monorail in the Middle East has reopened

The Palm Monorail offers passengers a new scenic experience, relaunched just in time for the long weekend

City dwellers are in for a treat this UAE National Day! Those looking to further explore the city will be thrilled to learn that the Palm Monorail has reopened to the public. Just in time for the long weekend, the monorail – the only transportation system of its kind in the Middle East – offers passengers a scenic voyage through all the iconic destinations on Palm Jumeirah.

The route connects key landmarks, starting from the Gateway Station at the entry of the Palm Jumeirah, through to Golden Mile Galleria, Al Ittihad Park, Nakheel Mall and Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark station – the final stop on the journey. Work has also commenced on The Pointe station, which is scheduled for completion in 2021.

Originally inaugurated in 2009, this 5.5-kilometre monorail line is the only public transportation system catering to residents and visitors on the Palm Jumeirah. One of the most iconic ways to explore all that the world’s largest man-made island has to offer, the monorail is also an eco-friendly transportation option causing a very low impact on the surrounding environment.

The Palm Monorail will now run seven days a week at regular intervals from 9am to 10pm. Ticket prices start from AED10 for a single trip. New ticketing packages and bundles have also been introduced, allowing customers to save up to 60 percent and choose from a range of family passes, as well as weekly, monthly and yearly memberships.

The reopening has taken place with all COVID-19 safety measures and precautions in place, such as social distancing, thermal checks, masks and gloves for all Palm Monorail staff and regular deep cleaning.

Tickets can now be purchased online on www.palmmonorail.com
