The H Dubai welcomes a brand new Indian restaurant

Offering a fresh take on Indian cuisine, Moombai & Co. Café and Bar made a dazzling debut at The H Dubai last month. The quirky haunt draws inspiration from Mumbai’s traditional Irani-Parsi cafés to present a never-before dining experience in the heart of modern-day Dubai. Featuring comfort food reminiscent of a lavish home-cooked meal, the venue promises to take diners on a journey into the past to relive the magic of Mumbai in the 1950s.

Moombai _ Co. Black Dal with Dum Ke Chawal

First established in 19th century India by Persian settlers, a Parsi café was the place to be in the evenings, where locals gathered for a leisurely chat over bread, butter and tea. Honouring this legacy, Moombai & Co. Café and Bar recreates this ambience with its décor featuring exposed brick walls, mahogany furniture and cane chairs as well as large wall clocks and Bollywood posters adorning the walls.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Ashish Kumar, who, having worked with India’s finest celebrity chefs, brings a wealth of experience to the table. His distinctive menu presents quintessential Parsi favourites including kheema pao, a famed delicacy of minced meat with bread, patra ni macchi, fish marinated with Indian chillies and wrapped in a banana leaf before being steamed as well as nalli nihari, a feisty combination of lamb shanks and marrow with mince samosas. Signature dishes you mustn’t miss include the chicken berry biryani, tandoori chicken, a slow-cooked lamb curry and India’s spicy version of scrambled eggs. The venue also boasts a dedicated bar known as the Permit Bar, where you will find eclectic bottles with aged blends, a unique tea martini as well as cold drip coffees.

On Saturdays, the restaurant throws open its doors to eager brunchers seeking the ideal ambience for a fun-filled wrap up to their weekend. As the restaurant’s team puts it, “It’s like visiting your aunt’s house back home, where everyone is welcome and no one leaves hungry.” Served from 11am to 4pm, diners can expect everything from all-day breakfast options to unlimited beverages, including special offers on drinks and nibbles after brunch.
