In the spotlight

The Sharjah National Theatre group brings its acclaimed production, Majareeh, to the historic surrounds of Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain this month. With two performances set to take place on March 6 and 13, the Arabic-language play highlights the concept of being a slave to the self and to one’s inherited traditions. The story celebrates the triumph of love and marriage over local customs, traditions and class differences in society. Helmed by Emirati director, Mohammed Al Ameri, it brings the poignant message to life through folk music and anecdotes from local culture.
