It’s an exciting month for art enthusiasts in the city as, among other creative events held throughout March, Art Dubai 2019 leads the way with a packed programme of exhibitions, workshops, public talks and live performances

The 2019 edition of Art Dubai is all set to captivate audiences with an impressive creative offering sourced from more than 90 galleries across 41 countries. Returning to the grounds of Madinat Jumeirah, the 13th edition of this eagerly anticipated event will take place from March 20 to 23. When Art Dubai first launched in 2007, the UAE’s art scene, while ambitious, was still very much in its infancy. But the fair’s success, year on year, and the city’s burgeoning local arts scene, only goes to show that the UAE is now a force to be reckoned with on the global stage – a melting pot, of sorts, for amateur and established artists from around the world. In fact, Art Dubai itself has been instrumental in expanding the region’s artistic presence internationally.

Spread across four main zones, the format for this year’s fair sees the Contemporary and Modern sections presented alongside each other, enabling an elevated understanding of the region’s art history. The new Bawwaba section shines a light on solo projects from and about the Middle East, Africa, Latin America as well as Central and South Asia. This year also sees the unique Residents programme return with its second edition, showcasing work created by international artists during their residency in the UAE, with a special focus on Latin America.

Supporting local artists has always been one of the fair’s focal points. And to reiterate its commitment to the development of the local arts scene, Art Dubai’s 13th edition will see a new section taking shape, dedicated to young talent from the UAE. Titled Campus Art Dubai 7.0, the section will showcase local projects and also host an exhibition produced by artists participating in the programme.
