An iconic work by Rembrandt van Rijn, one of the most celebrated artists of the Dutch Golden Age, has found a new home at Louvre Abu Dhabi. The rare oil sketch – Head of a young man, with clasped hands: Study of the figure of Christ – is part of a larger series of sketches referred to as Rembrandt’s Face of Jesus. Those looking to get a glimpse of this rare work can first view it at Louvre Abu Dhabi’s on-going exhibition Rembrandt, Vermeer & the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection and the Musée du Louvre running until May 18, before the piece joins Louvre Abu Dhabi’s permanent collection later this year.
